Athirappilly, Vazhachal and Malakkappara.

The destinations Athirappilly, Vazhachal,Ezhattumugham,Charpa waterfall, Peringalkuthu dam,Malakkappara are coming on the same stretch and same route. This also comes under western ghats of Kerala and one can travel there from the nearest town Chalakudy in Thrissur district of Kerala. About 45 km from Thrissur.

The first is Dreamworld water park which is on the way and can be see from roadside. There are a lot of water sports one can enjoy.
Next is Kauthuka park which is a resort with small park there. Visitors are welcomed with its attractions if booked.

Another one is Valara waterfalls which is on the way. To visit there one need advance permission from Kerala forest department. This is good for trekking also. Here trekking is by walk. There is time restrictions also. Pictorial and scenic. In monsoon season it attracts many. 2 km walking inside the forest surely need guide. Many Hindi , Tamil and Telugu films were shooted here.

Ezhattumugham tourist village and Thumboormuzhi dam are another attraction where the walking way and the hanging bridge are super. Those who wants to swim or bath in the river can do so.( restrictions are there in rainy season). In summer season fruits from the forest will be available through out the road. There is a small park also.
Next to this is Athirappilly waterfall which is the largest waterfall in Kerala and a well known destination. This is known to every Indian through many Bollywood films and is busiest one. The way to the spot is so exotic in view. Thick forest and murmering breeze is so beautiful that one can never forget.

Charpa waterfalls is on the roadside while going to Vazhachal. This is also a famous waterfall but walking to the river is restricted since it is dangerous in nature.

The ride through the highway carry you to the next destination Peringalkuthu dam. The scenic view in and around the road is of great experience. This dam site and surrounding area are so beautiful for walking.

From there one has to travel some more kilometres to reach another destination called Malakkapara, really a gift from nature. The way to Malakkappara is under elephant zone where elephants may cross the roads, so the journey should be with care. Otherwise opt for public vehicles. (There are 2 or 3 services daily by government and private operators) The greenish tea estates , beauty of forest , fresh flowing water ,clean air , singing birds and beautiful landscapes attract lots of nature lovers to this destination.

Note: Mr. Dais was well-known about this places and he was the car driver who carried us to every location and we enjoyed all.
